How To Throw A Legendary Summer Pool Party

 In Blog

It’s that time of year when parents and kids are starting to think about heading back to school — but don’t let the countdown to September stop you from enjoying some of the best weather of the year. If you’re lucky enough to own a pool, make the most of it and throw a legendary summer pool party!

Here are just a few of our favourite ideas on how to end the summer with a bang and ensure your kids start school with smiles on their faces.

Cool Invitations

Incorporate a theme into your invites so that guests know what the party is all about. It could be as simple as a pool theme or something more creative like a superhero theme. Be sure to make note of the important things. For instance, include a start and end time and a note about what to bring, i.e. BYO-towel. You may even want to make a request for parents to send along themed snacks — that will save you lots of work.

Invite School Pals

Make the guest list and include friends that are heading into the same grade, class, or school, to help ease the transition. Consider extending an invite to your childrens’ friends (and their parents) that you may not have seen all summer. This will help you get reacquainted while you splash away.

Get Creative with Snacks

When making food, try to stick with the theme. For example, a cup of blue licorice can easily be labelled ‘pool noodles’ or chicken wings can be ‘bat wings’, depending on your theme. Keep snacks fun and remember, as long as it’s colourful and tasty, there is no need to get elaborate.

Play Games and have Prizes

Games are a good way to get everyone involved and having fun. Add in some dollar store prizes for the winners and your games will reach fun level 100!

Goodie Bags — with A Twist

Offering your little guests a takeaway goodie bag will have them talking about your epic party for ages. The twist is to fill them with school supplies like pencils and erasers. Alternatively, you could set up a supply station where kids can fill their own bags. We recommend adult supervision for this.

If you’re feeling extra ambitious, include some adult goodie bags for the parents that will be in attendance. This thoughtful takeaway won’t go unnoticed.

Pool Maintenance

Most importantly, make sure your pool is in ideal shape for swimming. Supervision is Key

Always be sure that an adult is supervising the pool and that all kids (and parents) are obeying the pool rules. Be safe, and have fun!
